    • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on-site using mobile diagnostic tools, micrometers, hoists, computer diagnostics software, and hands-on techniques, including welding, grinding, and polishing as needed.
    • Inspect and test-drive vehicles post-repair to ensure quality and operational standards are met, whether at a job site or plant location.

    • Coordinate parts orders and billing to ensure timely availability, transporting necessary tools and parts to job sites to reduce delivery truck downtime.
    • Drive commercial motor vehicles (mixer, dump, tanker trucks) as needed to support operations or relocate equipment for repairs.
  • Mobile Shop and Plant Management:
    • Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly mobile workspace (e.g., service truck or on-site setup), accounting for company-owned tools and enforcing safety policies (e.g., no-smoking policy) in the field.
    • Assist with plant and facility maintenance at various locations, including basic electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubleshooting.
    • Work in, on, and around commercial vehicles at job sites, including accessing concrete drum hatches for interior maintenance.
  • Collaboration and Supervision:
    • Act as a mobile liaison between drivers, Fleet Manager, Plant Manager, Shop Manager, Dispatchers, and company leadership (President, Vice President) to address business concerns and coordinate maintenance projects from the field.
    • Assign and supervise truck drivers on shop-related tasks at job sites, prioritizing repairs and maintaining fleet readiness.
    • Provide input on equipment conditions to support fleet management decisions, reporting findings from on-site assessments.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to company safety policies, health regulations, Federal Safety Regulations, and industry standards during all mobile maintenance and repair activities.
    • Keep mobile work areas clean, organized, and secure, managing exposure to oils, lubricants, and solvents in varying outdoor conditions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, plus additional education/training as a diesel mechanic.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of proven experience in mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy-duty diesel trucks, preferably in a mobile capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and related welding, grinding, and polishing skills.
  • Proficiency with mobile diagnostic equipment, hand/power tools, micrometers, hoists, and computer diagnostics software (accessible via mobile devices).
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) per Federal Safety Regulations; additional certifications are a plus.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, use hoists for heavier items, climb ladders, and work in various conditions (on-site, outdoor exposure to weather).
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and stress management skills to assess priority repairs in a fast-paced, mobile environment.
  • Good communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and the ability to work cooperatively as a liaison between drivers, management, and customers from the field.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines, adapting to changing priorities and locations as business conditions warrant.
  • May require some Saturday work to meet operational demands.
  • Commitment to maintaining a positive, professional attitude and a safe, efficient work environment while on the move.
